Session Overview: Cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT) has become established as the leading evidence-based intervention for treating a wide range of psychological disorders and for helping clients to manage an even wider range of physical health conditions. Manualised CBT therapy protocols for the treatment of tinnitus by audiologists have been trialled with promising results. It is not the aim of this seminar to provide training in treatments of this type. Rather, this seminar will outline the key principles, and basic interventions associated with CBT. Participants will discuss ways in which audiologists can incorporate CBT-based approaches into their work, and also when not to use CBT.
