Audiology Australia is aware that Long-Range Acoustic Devices (LRADs) have been, and continue to be, used by police and law enforcement agencies around the world as a means to control crowds in public demonstration situations.

Audiology Australia is concerned about the potential for LRADs to cause serious lasting hearing loss and auditory problems for people. The potential for misuse is significant as LRADs can easily be set to exceptionally high decibel levels.
